Photographer & Writer

Photography and writing are my means of exploring and investigating the world. Combined, they are a prime method of storytelling; seeing helps me write, and in turn, writing helps me see. I create to investigate and to express. Through documenting the world around me, I am able to better understand it and share it with others. I seek to create art that evokes thought and conversation. I aim to share my photography as if to provide a magnifying glass over a subject that might otherwise go unnoticed or unobserved.

There is much hidden potential in the ordinary, and I seek to tell these untold stories through descriptive and visual art. If a picture's really worth a thousand words, then I challenge myself to find them; I find the poetry in photographs and seek the images behind words. Innovation and creativity, whatever is new or refreshing, unspoken or untrodden, propels me forward.

"...without the presence of the ordinary somewhere, even the most brilliantly imagined epic cannot be understood, because it cannot be recognized. In order for a story to speak to us, we must be able to see ourselves and our world in it somewhere."

– G. K. Chesterton, Tremendous Trifles
